Tips and Techniques for taking great pictures under water.

With all there is to learn about underwater photography, its good to know there is a place to come to on the internet to speed up the learning curve.

Many of the basic principles of land photography carry over to shooting underwater photographs. One of the biggest differences are the fact that your equpment needs to be able to function underwater. Which means you either need to use a camera that id waterproof by design, or you need to place your camera in a waterproof housing. Another difference is that light behaves differently as it travels under water then it does in the air. At just 30 feet below the surface the red end of the spectrum from the sun's light is deminished to the point that objects that are red in color appear not as colorless taking on thre hue of the water or even looking brown to yur eye. To compensate for this, it is necessary to use artificial lighting to bring back the natural colors whne shooting underwater photography.
